Rick Carlisle shook after hearing the news about Mike Brown's firing
The coaches of the leagues are in a state of shock after the surprising news of Kings’ head coach, Mike Brown‘s axing was made public. Star head-coaches like Steve Kerr and Mike Malone gave their honest reaction to the event with others also chiming in to criticize the decision made by the Sacramento Kings’ owners.
The head coach of Indiana Pacers, Rick Carlisle seemed totally flabbergasted as he voiced his views on the matter in a recent post-game conference. Mike Brown was sacked after serving two and a half years with the Kings. While Rick Carlisle was more graceful in his expression, the Denver Nuggets’ head coach, Mike Malone, who himself has been one of the previous victims of the Kings’ owner Vivek Ranadive, was far blunter. Lambasting the abrupt and sudden sacking of Mike Brown, Malone called out the Sacramento Kings owner for showing “no b*lls, no class.”
The decision came in the aftermath of the Kings’ five-game slump. Fans have since criticized the franchise for their rash move. In the meantime, the assistant coach will take over the responsibilities and duties as the interim head coach as the team prepares to meet the Lakers in Los Angeles.
Steve Kerr phones his “great friend” Mike Malone to console him over impulsive termination
The news was first reported by the top NBA insider, Shams Charania. Golden State Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, expressed his disappointment regarding the Sacramento Kings’ unexpected decision to terminate Mike Brown. Referring to Brown as a “great friend” and “great coach,” Kerr conveyed his empathy after the news broke.
Steve Kerr said he talked to Mike Brown today after the Kings let him go: “When you think about where that franchise was before Mike got there, where they’ve been the last couple years, the job he and his staff have done, it’s shocking.” pic.twitter.com/9IljjWN0Ys

Steve Kerr’s comments highlight the dark nature of the business he is in and how he is an exception, not the rule. With a head coaching job in a big-time league like the NBA, one receives all the criticism and none of the credit.
