It was a double delight for Jelena Ostapenko as a quarterfinal qualification at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships was followed by appreciation from her favorite pop star Lil Wayne. The 27-year-old put in a dominant performance against Yulia Putitseva and beat her straight sets.
The American artist has been very impressed with Ostapenko’s performances at the grass Major so far. Notably, she is yet to drop a set at this year’s Championships and has also not lost more than three games in a set so far.

Although Ostapenko has played only against unseeded players so far, she has not shown any signs of weakness. She has beaten Ajla Tomljanovic, Daria Snigur, Bernarda Pera, and Putintseva en route to the quarterfinals.
After her fourth-round win, Wayne heaped praise on the 27-year-old. He claimed to be Ostapenko’s huge fan and also said that she was a joy to watch every time.
Jelena Jelena Jelena!!! I am and I been a huge fkn fan!!! a joy to watch…EVERY TIME!Lil Wayne captioned his post on X
It is worth mentioning that Ostapenko is a huge Wayne fan. The Latvian recently said that she hopes to see Wayne in her box at the 2024 US Open.
Jelena Ostapenko in red-hot form
Jelena Ostapenko has been in red-hot form and is now reaping the rewards for her hard work. She reached her third Wimbledon quarterfinals and her first since 2018. She has not dropped a set and has lost only 15 games so far, the lowest of any player to get to the last eight at SW19 since Victoria Azarenka (14) in 2012.

Despite a 2-2 head-to-head record against Putintseva, Ostapenko did not err and effortlessly clinched the match in 68 minutes. She later said that she was enjoying her aggressive approach and was happy about not breaking down in tough moments.
I'm playing aggressive, playing my game, just enjoying it probably more than before. I'm probably more confident and more mature on the court, this tournament especially. I kind of know what I have to do, and I'm doing it quite well, especially in deciding moments. I'm just doing the things that I've been doing before, like when I won French Open, when I was back in Top 10.Jelena Ostapenko said after her win over Yulia Putintseva (H/T: WTA)
Ostapenko will face Barbora Krejcikova, the 31st seed, in the quarterfinals. While she leads the Czech Republican 5-2 in the head-to-head, this will be their first meeting at The Championships.
