Kendrick Perkins truly seems to be the punching bag of the internet. The former NBA star and ESPN Analyst has been catching severe criticism online after he drew comparisons between pop industry stars Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj to the Golden State Warriors’ pursuit of Jimmy Butler. The latest to join in on the wave of Perkins online hate is none other than legendary NOLA rapper Lil Wayne.

Weezy took to his X account to drop a dismissive post about Perkins. This comes after Big Perk decided to take shots at Nicki Minaj in an attempt to liken the Jimmy Butler trade to the Warriors. While Perkins’ intentions may not have necessarily been to diss the Trinidadian Rapper, Lil Wayne certainly took offense to his former Young Money co-star being thrown under the bus.

The Warriors thought they was getting a Taylor Swift or a Beyoncé and ended up getting a #kendrickperkins Stop playin bish.

Although Kendrick Perkins has already issued an apology to Nicki Minaj and her entourage of fans, the ‘Barbz,’ he still can’t seem to get his foot out of the mud. Lil Wayne joins a long list of fans from across the internet who have been firing shots at Perkins for his comments on Minaj. For Weezy, however, the diss towards Minaj is a lot more personal than for most fans.

In the late 2000s, Wayne was one of the first mainstream artists to take notice of an upcoming Nicki Minaj. In 2009, Minaj signed with Weezy’s ‘Young Money’ record label. The two would go on to create history, becoming one of the most popular music labels of all time, eventually signing a formidable lineup of artists, including names like Drake, Tyga and T-Pain, to name a few.

Kendrick Perkins catches flak from Kevin Durant

Things just can’t seem to work out for Kendrick Perkins on the internet. Day after day, he keeps getting called out for making outrageous comments, and the latest to call out Big Perk is none other than his former teammate, Kevin Durant. Perkins claimed that he was the leader of the Oklahoma City Thunder roster from the mid-2010s. This led to KD firing back with some heavy artillery.

I know this may be a reach but this comment is by far the craziest sh*t I’ve seen this week,” Durant wrote on X.

Perkins and Durant have gone back and forth about each other’s roles on the OKC Thunder squad, but it is quite the stretch to say that Perkins was a leader on a roster as stacked as the Thunder’s. Between 2010 and 2015, OKC’s roster featured some of the biggest stars in the league, including Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. The team also had more vocal on-court leaders, such as Serge Ibaka.

Amidst all this, Kendrick Perkins played some solid spot-up big man minutes. However, with Big Perk averaging 23.1 minutes and 4.2 points while shooting below 50% from the field across his 5 seasons with the Thunder, it is difficult to side with him over Durant when it comes to picking the team’s leader.
