Appearing on Skip Bayless’ YouTube show, Lil Wayne voiced his confidence in the Lakers and unveiled his surprising pick for a potential game-changer. Citing Bronny James’s recent performances in the G League, the rapper called him the team’s “secret weapon.” The Grammy award-winning rapper hinted that he could provide a spark if brought into the fold for the playoffs.

While Bayless seemed skeptical, asking about Bronny James’ ability to contribute immediately, Wayne remained optimistic but realistic. He suggested James Jr. needs more high-scoring games, like his recent G League breakout, to build confidence and develop his game further.

The legendary rapper also likened Bronny James’ potential role to that of the Grizzlies’ Scottie Pippen Jr.. The son of the Chicago Bulls legend is someone who can make an impact with effort and versatility rather than solely relying on shooting. Lakers reveal latest news on Bronny James’ future
Bronny James has been honing his skills with the South Bay Lakers in the G League. In six appearances so far, Bronny has shown flashes of potential but remains inconsistent. However, following a mediocre showing during the G League Showcase in Orlando, where he averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in two games, the Lakers have revealed their future plans for the rookie guard.
The team recently announced that Bronny James has been recalled from the South Bay Lakers. This makes him eligible to suit up for the parent team in their next game against the Detroit Pistons. The decision comes after James’ appearances in Orlando, where he showcased glimpses of his potential but failed to leave a mark worth noting.
The South Bay Lakers’ next game isn’t until Dec. 27, giving the Lakers a window to involve the rookie with the main roster and continue his development under close scrutiny. However, the move to recall the rookie does raise questions about his role with the Lakers.
