FC Barcelona are flying in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, with 40 and 15 goals scored, respectively. While striker Robert Lewandowski is directly responsible for 19 of them, the club has already begun thinking of a potential replacement for the coming seasons.

Recently, Ligue 1 striker Jonathan David was linked to the club and fans have been mulling over the pros and cons of having him at the club. The decision comes from the fact that Lewandowski’s contract runs out in 2026 and the veteran striker is currently 36 years of age.

David, on the other hand, is about to turn 25 in January. His goal-scoring record is equally impressive, having bagged 13 goals in the league and UCL combined this season. However, LOSC Lille President Olivier Letang sent a clear message as to the club’s stance on a potential transfer for their player.

The Canadian’s contract is up at the end of the season and the club is at the risk of losing him on a free transfer. Fans are convinced that David will not sign an extension and will leave Lille at the end of the campaign.

Barcelona identifies ‘low cost’ alternative to Alphonso Davies

After an exciting start to life under Hansi Flick, Barcelona heads into the summer transfer window with several players on their wish list. One of the main positions that needs reinforcement is the left-back.

Even though Alejandro Balde has done satisfactorily until now, his understudy Gerard Martin hasn’t been up to the mark. As a result, Barcelona have set their sights on Wolves star Hugo Bueno, who is currently on loan at Feyenoord.

The 22-year-old has three assists in seven games in the Eredivisie and has a contract with the Wolves till 2028. However, Barcelona is on the lookout for securing the player for cheap, given his Transfermarkt valuation is €6 million.

Besides Bueno, Barcelona also plan on challenging Real Madrid to the signature of Alphonso Davies. The Canadian’s contract with the German club expires at the end of the season. However, the player’s desire to secure a higher salary in the region of €20 million per year might discourage the Blaugrana.
