As previously reported by CNN, president-elect Donald Trump is expected to name former WWE CEO Linda McMahon as the US Secretary of Education Department. It’s now learned that the 76-year-old businesswoman stands separated from Vince McMahon, Linda’s attorney, Laura Brevetti told The Washington Post.

Having married back in 1966, the McMahons are parents to Shane and Stephanie McMahon, both of which have been pivotal to WWE’s growth at some point. As Linda prepares for a key role in Trump’s administration, she has severed ties with her ill-famed husband. The DOJ (Department of Justice) is currently probing into Vince’s hush money scandal, which first came to light in 2022.

The ongoing investigation has put another lawsuit against McMahon on hold. As known, the former WWE Chairman was sued by ex-employee Janel Grant on grounds of s*xual trafficking and physical abuse in January 2024. However, the suit is paused for 6 months, confirmed Grant’s attorney, Ann Callis.

An excerpt from The Washington Post‘s latest diggings into the McMahon family salvaged Linda McMahon‘s comments on the Ring Boys lawsuit. On her behalf, Linda’s attorney refuted those decades-old allegations. Brevetti said that the claims are based on scurrilous lies, exaggerations, and misrepresentations.

As legal imbroglio continues to haunt the estranged couple, they’re moving on to different avenues. Vince McMahon is all hands on deck about starting a new entertainment hub company. Whereas Linda, as mentioned above, is likely to be tapped in to oversee the Dept. of Education.

The WWE co-founder has previously served under Trump’s regime in his first term of presidency. She was the 25th administrator of the Small Business Administration. McMahon unsuccessfully ran for the Senate from Connecticut in 2010 against Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat.

What impact did WWE have on Donald Trump’s election high?

It’d be amiss to overlook how some of WWE’s greatest names politicked for Donald Trump in the 2024 US presidential elections. First and foremost, Hulk Hogan, who labeled Trump as his hero, remained one of Trump’s most committed campaigners.

Hogan endorsed the 78-year-old Republican after a whimsical speech at the RNC. Kayfabe brothers The Undertaker and Kane talked down on Trump’s Democratic counterpart, Kamala Harris. The trio, while acting in a TikTok video, called out Harris, Tim Walz, and their supporter Dave Bautista.

The Animal dissed Donald in a skit on Jimmy Kimmel Live before the polls. But after polling was done, Bautista had to sustain a dig from Glenn Jacobs, aka Kane, who relished the Republican victory over the Democrats.
