If there’s an iconic rivalry that has been so fierce that it could easily define an era, it is the one between two of Spain’s biggest clubs – FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Blaugrana and the Los Blancos have time and again come up against each other, giving rise to some of the most iconic clashes in the sport.

The two clubs have been so historically opposed that a player from either club seldom speaks highly of the other. However, former Barca player and club legend Lionel Messi changed that ‘tradition’ in a recent interview. The No.10 was full of praise for the Los Blancos, and fans of either faction don’t know how to react.

The Albiceleste are a tightly knit group of players that appear to be close both on and off the field. The champions begin their title defense on the 21st of June against Canada in the group stages of the Copa America.

They have been drawn alongside Chile, Peru and Canada in Group A. In the interview, Messi also mentioned Rodrigo De Paul as the player he’d party with and Angel Di Maria as the teammate he’s most willing to live with. This only exemplifies the cohesion and unity in the Argentine squad, revered by many to be the tournament favorites for the upcoming tournament as well.
