Lionel Messi‘s legacy in the sport has forever been solidified thanks to his unbelievable achievements on the football pitch. The 37-year-old is an inspiration and role model to several professional footballers, with Trent Alexander-Arnold being just one of many. The Liverpool midfielder and right-back recently went on the record to hail the 5’7″ Argentine as the best in the world.
Alexander-Arnold’s admiration of the Inter Miami captain is no secret. The Englishman has time and again pointed to Messi as the best while also praising his ability as a footballer.
You're always on red alert when the ball is near him. In many aspects, he's the best at any given moment. He can do almost everything he wants on the football pitch.Trent Alexander-Arnold told MirrorFootball
The 25-year-old asserted that it’s very rare for a player to instill a feeling of alert or panic while playing against him and that in itself is enough to make Messi special. One must also note that Alexander-Arnold played in a UEFA Champions League final against Lionel Messi‘s arch rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
Following a defeat in the Euro final in Germany, Alexander-Arnold is yet to return to Liverpool for their pre-season games.
Liverpool star hails Jude Bellingham despite underwhelming Euros in Germany
It is safe to say that Jude Bellingham did not live up to the hype for The Three Lions in Germany. Despite making it to the final, Bellingham’s only moment of significance came in the Round of 16 against 44th ranked Slovakia. His bicycle kick was truly a work of art, even though England needing a last-minute equalizer against Slovakia in itself was concerning.
Speaking to The Mirror however, Bellingham’s England teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold had high words of praise for the youngster.
You're grateful that he plays for your nation than any other. He can help you win tournaments, is successful at a young age, has the right mentality and can also play amazing football.Trent Alexander-Arnold told MirrorFootball
Bellingham enjoyed one of the most amazing debut seasons in football, as he helped Real Madrid secure the La Liga title, a domestic championship as well as the UEFA Champions League! At just 21 years of age, Bellingham is guaranteed a podium finish for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. It is unclear as to who among Bellingham, Vinicius Jr. and Rodri will claim the award.
