Before Aidan Hutchinson started his third season in the NFL, his goal was to etch his name alongside some of the best in the league. He was on pace to do that as he racked up seven and a half sacks in just five games. But that fifth game brought his season to a grinding halt after suffering a gruesome leg injury. Now the Detroit Lions superstar is recovering after completing surgery.
The young star is not just known for his exploits on the gridiron. The pass rusher was a regular visitor at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, part of his alma mater University of Michigan.
Now after his injury, the same children who he visited to encourage have come out with a heartfelt video full of messages. Some of those messages were; “We love you, Hutch,“ and “Aidan, you got this. You’re strong.”

All those children were often visited by the Michigan native, starting from his times with the Michigan Wolverines. Now they are sending him messages to be strong.
With the surgery on his broken tibia over, the Pro Bowler now has to focus completely on healing his leg and recovery. Not an easy task when half of his 268lbs have to be supported by that left leg. Doctors have estimated it will take anywhere between four to six months before he can return to the field.
That puts the Detroit Lions Super Bowl dreams up in the air, as it is highly unlikely that he can return, even if they make it to the championship game on February 9th. If anything, the messages from the kids can push the young star to recover and come back next season.
Aidan Hutchinson doing the good work from the hospital bed
Even though he is lying in a hospital bed with his leg dangling from the ceiling, the star rusher and his family have not stopped from continuing his efforts to help these very children. His family have ramped up their efforts on their website, The House of Hutch. Their goal is to,“Supporting children fighting life-threatening illnesses.”
The website has increased its range of merchandise. All profits from the sales will go into the care of the children at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
They have also added a donation section where they have specifically mentioned that the way to support Aidan Hutchinson is to help him help the children. The section aptly named, “Hutch Heroes’, showcasing children who he has met at the hospital.
For a young star to have this much of an impact in his community speaks a lot about his character. When most people in such situations start a GoFundMe page to help their cause, the star has his ways of helping others.
