Lions’ Amon Ra St. Brown criticizes the Bengals for tagging Tee Higgins for the second time: “Should be illegal”
Lions WR Amon Ra St. Brown on his podcast threw a warning at Bears for underestimating Jared Goff and expressed his disgust at Bengals not paying Tee Higgins.

Amon Ra St. Brown has never had to face the dreaded franchise tag in his four-year NFL career. The 25-year-old was handsomely rewarded with a four-year, $120 million contract extension following a 1500 receiving yards season in 2023, which saw him placed as the 7th highest-paid WR in the NFL.
On the opposite end of the spectrum from St. Brown is the Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins. The former second-round pick out of Clemson has often been considered among the best WR2s, if not the best, in the NFL.
Despite the Bengals not qualifying for the playoffs two seasons in a row, Higgins contributed over 1500 yards and 15 touchdowns. The numbers are enough to warrant a two or three-year extension, but every single time Higgins asked for one, the Bengals rewarded him with franchise tags, forcing him to stay and play in Cincinnati.
St. Brown believes Bengals tagging Tee Higgins’ two years in a row is unfair.
That should be illegal. I don’t give a f*** what nobody says. That’s so f***ed.

According to USA Today, Tee Higgins is supposed to earn $26.2 million due to the tag. The Bengals hold the leverage of trading Higgins if they see fit before the trade deadline.
Amon Ra St. Brown backs Jared Goff to prove Ben Johnson wrong
Right after leaving the Lions to become the head coach of the Chicago Bears, Ben Johnson praised quarterback Caleb Williams. Johnson complimented the former Heisman Trophy winner’s athleticism and his game sense during the NFL combine.

To have an athlete like Caleb extend the play and potentially find an explosive down the field, that’s what gets me going a little bit. I get excited thinking about that because I haven’t really been around that since I’ve been in the league. I’ve been on the other side; it’s demoralizing.

St. Brown viewed the statement as a diss toward Jared Goff. According to the Pro Bowler, Johnson’s words will only light a fire under Goff.
It’s just going to give Jared [Goff] that much more fire when we play the Bears. Am I here for it? I’m here for it.

As long as Dan Campbell is part of the Lions, Goff will be a problem for any defense. The Goff and St. Brown partnership has been among the best the NFL has seen in recent history, and some of the credit does go to Johnson being the former offensive coordinator. But with or without Johnson, the Lions offense will be feared in the NFC.
