The Detroit Lions’ injury list keeps growing. Terrion Arnold, Dan Skipper, and several others are in rehab. On Friday (August 8), the Lions added another casualty to that list, Morice Norris.
Dan Campbell’s Lions looked much better compared to their debacle during the Hall of Fame game a week earlier. The Falcons also looked sharp. Detroit led the tie with a 17-10 score six minutes before the end of the third quarter.
Falcons quarterback Emory Jones handed the ball to undrafted rookie free agent running back Nathan Carter for his first carry. Carter found an opening in the Lions’ defensive line when former Fresno State corner Morice Norris lunged forward to stop the run.
Norris went face-first into Carter’s knee. His teammates swarmed on top of Carter to end the run.
After the dust settled, everyone noticed Norris lying motionless on the turf. The medical team rushed to the spot, and the ambulance followed them soon after. They took Norris away to the nearest hospital.

Dan Campbell updated on Morice Norris’ condition
An emotional Lions head coach stood on the podium for the question-and-answer session. Campbell revealed that Norris was breathing when the medics took him away, and he pled to everyone to pray for his speedy recovery.

He’s another one of those young guys. We’ve got some guys who have taken Mo [Morice] under their wing, Kerby [Joseph] and [Brian] Branch and those guys. He’s like a little brother to them, and he is somebody who wants to be part of the group, comes down, and works hard. Year two, looking for the growth, the kid just wants to get better every day… I don’t even know what else to say [right now].
Dan Campbell said while in a muffled voice
Campbell revealed Norris’ mother is at the hospital with her son, and a couple of the players would stay back to keep an eye on him.
The Detroit Lions X account reported,
Morice Norris is in stable condition and has feeling and movement in all his extremities. He will remain at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta overnight for observation. We would like to thank the Atlanta Falcons organization, the EMS team at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the doctors and staff at Grady for their support.

Campbell thanked the Falcons’ head coach, Raheem Morris, for agreeing to cancel the game due to the circumstances.
Raheem Morris is a class act. He is the ultimate class act. So, we agreed that it just didn’t feel right to finish the game, and that man’s a class act. Always has been.

The Lions capped off an improved performance
Even though the HOF game against the Chargers was an exhibition fixture, the AFC team came prepared while the Lions looked rusty. Kyle Allen and Hendon Hooker threw a combined 3 interceptions as the NFC club lost 34-7.
They had a much-improved performance against the Falcons. Allen and Hooker combined to throw 14 passes for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns to rookies Isaac TeSlaa and Jackson Meeks.
