Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs takes wild dig at Cowboys while poking fun at their misery

The Dallas Cowboys are set to host fellow NFC team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at AT&T Stadium in week 16. Jerry Jones’ team stands in a very precarious position—losing one of the remaining three games will dash their dream of playing postseason football four seasons in a row.
While the Cowboys toil in the depths of misery, the Detroit Lions are the favorites to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC. These two teams met in week 6, which ended in a 47-9 loss for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys were missing several key players, including Micah Parsons, DaRon Bland, and DeMarcus Lawrence, through injury. Second-year running back Jahmyr Gibbs took advantage of the situation by recording 69 yards on the ground and 28 through the air.
As it turns out, Gibbs was close to joining the Dallas Cowboys during the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite their chalky reputation, Dallas always attracts much attention because of the facilities and rich history of winning Super Bowls. Gibbs thought the Cowboys might take him, but they were down at the 26th pick, whereas the Lions took the 22-year-old by giving up the 14th overall pick.
Gibbs was on the Up & Adams show recently. Host Kay Adams asked the Alabama graduate if he had any preferred destination in mind before the draft. Gibbs replied that he was okay with playing anywhere besides the North of the country. Then he took a cheeky dig at the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys were interested in drafting Jahmyr Gibbs
The Cowboys played the 2023 season with Tony Pollard, who racked up 1005 yards and 6 touchdowns from 252 carries but was released from the team in the off-season.
Jones made the unpopular decision to bring Ezekiel Elliott back for a second spell and further signed Dalvin Cook. Neither has been regular for Dallas; instead, undrafted free agent Rico Dowdle has 177 carries for 880 yards and 1 touchdown this year.
If the Cowboys had drafted Gibbs, then it would have sorted the running back spot. While appearing on the Richard Sherman Podcast in November, Gibbs revealed:
I knew for a fact that Dallas was going to get me at 26 if I was still there, and a couple other places like Cincinnati is going to get me.

Gibbs now has the sole responsibility of running the Lions rushing game, as David Montgomery injured himself and will be out for the foreseeable future. He currently leads the team with 186 carries for 1047 yards and 11 touchdowns.
