Ever since the Detroit Lions announced Terrion Arnold’s name inside a packed Campus Martius, the rookie cornerback has carried himself like a seasoned veteran. His professionalism has caught the eye of everyone.

Arnold’s first week in rookie minicamp looked promising for the Detroit Lions. On the eve of Mother’s Day, however, the Alabama graduate dropped a massive truth bomb.

The cornerback claimed he would not hesitate to tackle his mom if she stood before him on the gridiron.

If my mom was out here right now and lined up across from me as a receiver, I would jam her into the dirt. [That’s just my mindset]. And my mom knows that. Football-wise, that’s just the way that I think, and the way that I was brought up.

That may sound extreme, but it only showcases the competitiveness of Terrion Arnold. The 21-year-old revealed the influence his mother had when he was growing up.

My mom has been my rock. I wouldn’t be in this world without her. I’m just very grateful and blessed to have her as my mom.

Arnold was born in Tallahassee, Florida on March 22, 2003. He studied at John Paul II Catholic School, later joining the University of Alabama.

Dan Campbell might have found the proper corner in Terrion Arnold

Arnold’s recent comments speak volumes of his personality on the field. He is an old-school hard-hitting defensive back who gets the job done.

The Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell adores players like him. When he first came to Detroit, Campbell announced that they would bite off their opponents’ legs as if they were real lions. Arnold does fit the bill. No wonder they traded their first- and third-round picks (No. 29 and 73) to the Dallas Cowboys to select him 24th overall.

Last season, the Lions had one of the worst pass protections in the NFL. They allowed sixth most passing yards (4205) and passing touchdowns (28). So upgrading the cornerback slot was a smart move on Campbell’s part.

The Lions finally bagged some much-awaited silverware after waiting for more than 30 years. They came first in the NFC North and even reached the Conference Championship game for the first time since 1991.

Arnold could prove to be a fantastic addition to the Lions’ pursuit of more titles. During his last year with Bama, he made it into First Team All-American and First Team All-Sec.
