Current WWE champion pitches mixed tag team match against CM Punk and AJ Lee for next year’s SummerSlam

Liv Morgan wants her and Dominik Mysterio to face CM Punk and AJ Lee at SummerSlam (via WWE)
Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio have risen to become the top power couple in all of WWE. Although there is no dedicated mixed tag team division in WWE, they have participated in such a match in the past at Bash in Berlin against the Terror Twins, comprising Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest. Considering that the Women’s World Champion lost that match, she may be looking to redeem herself against another famous wrestling couple, CM Punk and AJ Lee.
In an interview on The Schmo, Morgan mentioned that SummerSlam would be a two-day event held in New Jersey next year. Being a Jersey girl herself, she wanted to have a huge match at the show. She expressed her desire to team up with Mysterio against Punk and Lee, who is another Jersey girl.
Liv Morgan said that her partner would probably be in for the match as well, given his history with Punk. In fact, the Second City Saint’s first match back in WWE after his 2023 return was against the Latino superstar at a Live Event. After a hard-fought battle, the 45-year-old emerged on top. The two competitors squared off once again at another house show with the same ending result.
Stepping into the ring with Lee is a true honor for many of the women on today’s roster who came up after she retired in 2015. She paved the way for the Women’s Revolution that soon followed later that year. Furthermore, she can be hugely accredited for the current state of women’s wrestling in WWE. Thus, it is no secret that many members of the current female roster urged her to step out of retirement.
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long wants to see AJ Lee come back to professional wrestling
AJ Lee retired from professional wrestling in 2015 due to her back issues. She had one last WrestleMania victory and a six-man tag match on Raw before she called it quits on her career. Now, alongside many wrestling fans, even veterans of the industry, such as Teddy Long, want to see her step back into the squared circle.
Speaking on WrestleBinge, Long said that he had met the former Diva’s Champion before she ever married CM Punk, and his experience with her was very positive. He also believed that it was long overdue for her to come back to professional wrestling.
She never left the company on bad terms, and they never buried her on her way out. Her only negative connection with the company was how her husband left things. However, the two parties seem to have sorted that out as well.
I’ve met her when I was there before she ever married CM Punk, so I had the opportunity to work with her. What a nice person. Real nice lady. And great attitude and everything. Yeah, I think it’s time for her to come back.

Long added that she would be a great asset for the company right now. Lee was a spectacular performer even when women’s wrestling was not a priority. She would thrive in the landscape today and put on spectacular matches. Furthermore, fans would finally get to see many dream matches if she squares up against the likes of Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton, or the aforementioned mixed-tag match.
