Erik ten Hag has been extremely defensive of his side’s performances ever since taking charge as Manchester United manager. The Dutchman has time and again hit back against the press and their incessant questions about his side’s shortcomings. United suffered a humiliating defeat at home to rivals Liverpool as their opponents picked up a 3-0 win.

United’s defensive midfielder Casemiro was in the wrong for both of Liverpool‘s goals in the first half, with the Brazilian being dispossessed in the build-up to both. While speaking to the press, an annoyed Erik ten Hag asked a reporter to tell him what he thought were United’s mistakes during the game. While the reporter did not hold back on his assesment, Ten Hag summarily rejected his observations.

Are you sure? I don't think so. I'm sorry for you. After Man City, we won the most trophies. I'm sorry for you.

City were beaten to the FA Cup last season by United, following which the club handed Ten Hag a contract extension. Despite being in control for the initial 20 minutes or so, the Red Devils failed to make the best of their chances. Fans even laughed at how Arne Slot‘s men started to play ‘rondos’ in the opposition’s half with more than half an hour to play.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot refuses to credit tactics for 3-0 win over United

Arne Slot is loving life at Liverpool. The new manager has hit the ground running, with the Reds picking up wins in all three of their games in the 2024/25 Premier League season. Slot also broke quite a few records with the win at Old Trafford. For starters, he is the first Liverpool manager to win all three of his initial games, that too without conceding a single goal.

He is also the the first Liverpool boss in over 88 years to beat United in his first trip to Old Trafford. Speaking to the press after the game, Slot’s composed and humble replies went viral among fans.

I don't think you win games with tactics. You win games with work rate. We should've won by maybe two more goals, but needed Alisson to make two important saves
Arne Slot told the press

In his honest assessment of the game, he claimed that the atmosphere was so against his side that he couldn’t enjoy it until the final five minutes or so. Additionally, the Dutchman also stated the he sees Luis Diaz as a goal scorer for his side, although the Colombian has had a more secondary role in attack under Jurgen Klopp.
