Liverpool and Newcastle United are the clubs that are keeping an eye on the PSV Eindhoven attacker Johan Bakayoko. Football Insider has reported that both clubs will be looking to get hold of the player in the upcoming January transfer window. PSV signed Bakayoko in 2019, and the player displayed amazing development to earn a place in the first team in 2022. Since then, the Belgian star has gone from strength to strength.
He is one of the most important players in his team and hence has attracted the sights of many clubs in Europe. Bakayoko has scored six goals and provided three assists in the 19 matches that he has played so far this season. He is just 21 years old and has his whole career in front of him. So, from here on, he can just work on his potential and develop into a world-class player.
Bakayoko’s contract ends in 2026, and many clubs are showing interest in him. Liverpool need a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who might leave the club for free at the end of this season. Eddie Howe is also looking to add more attacking flair to his team. Bakayoko is mainly a right winger, but he can also feature as a left winger or play as a second striker or play-maker. This versatility in his roles makes him a perfect asset for any club that he joins.
PSV will charge a fee of £30-40 million as per reports for Johan Bakayoko
PSV won’t look to offload or lose one of their most important stars mid-season. Hence, they could effectively charge the interested clubs a fee of £30-40 million for the services of Bakayoko. Despite his young age, Bakayoko has shown a strong work ethic, with room for improvement in areas like aerial duels, defensive involvement, and decision-making during dribbling.
Coming to the points table, Liverpool are first in the English Premier League under Arne Slot with 34 points in 13 games. They have won 11 matches, drawn one, and lost one game. Newcastle United are 11th in the points table with 19 points in 13 games. Eddie Howe’s side have won five games, drawn four, and lost four games so far this season.
