EPL giants Liverpool have reportedly offered Trent Alexander-Arnold a massive contract, amid links with La Liga side Real Madrid. The English fullback might sign a new deal at the club at the end of his current contract next summer.

Liverpool’s vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold is often regarded as one of the finest right-backs in the world. A Reds’ academy graduate, Arnold has made more than 300 appearances for the first team, while excelling under former manager Jurgen Klopp.

He has also made 102 goal contributions. He was a crucial part of Liverpool’s 2018-19 UCL and 2019-20 EPL winning sides. However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, there has been growing uncertainty over his future.

Real Madrid, who are long-time admirers of Alexander-Arnold’s abilities, are in pole position to secure his signing. He is yet to agree on a contract extension with Liverpool. Certain reports suggest that Arnold might sign a pre-contract agreement with Los Blancos in January.

Liverpool sources, however, claim that the 26-year-old has been offered a new deal at the club. This would make him one of the highest earning players in the EPL. Arnold’s new salary offer would also put him on par with Mohamed Salah’s wages.

In order to avoid losing him for free next summer, Arne Slot’s side will be hoping to tie down the full-back with a new contract by December. Apart from Alexander-Arnold, star forward Mohamed Salah and skipper Virgil van Dijk will also be out of contract next summer, increasing worries.

Real Madrid target £40 million EPL star in case they miss out on signing Trent Alexander-Arnold

Los Blancos might shift their focus towards another Premier League star, in case they fail to secure Trent Alexander-Arnold’s services. Real Madrid have identified Nottingham Forest and Brazilian defender Murillo as a new defensive signing.

With Dani Carvajal out for the season and Lucas Vazquez having also sustained an injury, Real Madrid would need to sign a new right-back. Despite having set their eyes on Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold, his contract situation seems to be an issue. Nottingham’ Forest’s Murillo has emerged as an option. However, the club would have to pay around £40 million to sign him.

The 22-year-old former Corinthians defender has been a regular at Forest, with the club currently in the 5th position on the EPL table. Murillo has made 47 appearances for the club and offers versatility as he can play both as a center-back and a full-back.
