Liverpool are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Georgian goalkeeper prodigy, Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, for a fee worth €30 million. The 23-year-old is set to be a long-term successor to Alisson Becker.
Giorgi Mamardashvili has been a revelation since making a move to La Liga side Valencia in 2021, from Dinamo Tbilisi. The 23-year-old goalkeeper gained widespread attention after his brilliant performances for the Georgian national team, helping them reach the last-16 of the 2024 Euros. Additionally, he set a club record with 60 consecutive La Liga appearances, finishing the 2023-24 season with 13 clean sheets.
Amid numerous reports suggesting that the Georgian goalkeeper could be on his way out of the club, the Reds now look in pole position to sign the player. Liverpool is contemplating a loan move for the shot-stopper, with a transfer fee exceeding €30 million. Moreover, Valencia, facing financial difficulties, is open to selling numerous players. The Reds are, however, hoping to negotiate a lower fee than has been requested by the Los Che.

Arne Slot branded ‘ruthless’ as Liverpool on the verge of selling several young players
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been labeled as ‘ruthless’ as the club prepares to part ways with several young players who thrived under former manager Jurgen Klopp.
Slot had earlier faced criticism for his transfer approach, with the club still yet to secure a summer signing. Several young players are linked with departures, including Fabio Carvalho, who recently joined Brentford. Apart from the 21-year-old player, Bobby Clark, Sepp van den Berg, Ben Doak, and Owen Beck are also being linked with possible exits.
Moreover, Slot’s decision to exclude some of them from recent matches has further fueled speculation about their future. The possible departure of so many young players is indeed surprising.
