Trent Alexander-Arnold chose to play the villain at Old Trafford as Liverpool continued their dominant start to the season. United were no match for the Reds as Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah fired their side past a wary United side. Arnold emphatically opened the scoring for Liverpool, although VAR chalked off his effort for an offside call during the build-up.

Alexander-Arnold fired the ball in from close range, although Mohamed Salah was penalized for touching the ball in an offside position. After failing to make any other significant contribution to his side, the Englishman was subbed off in the 76th minute. At the full-time whistle, Alexander-Arnold was seen putting up three fingers in front of the home fans as he reminded the unruly crowd of the score.

Fans react to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s bold gesture aimed at United fans

Trent Alexander-Arnold symbolized every Liverpool fan as the Reds picked up an emphatic win on enemy turf. A supporter commented that Alexander-Arnold is a Liverpool legend and that he should not leave the club at any cost. The player has been linked to a move away from the club, with Real Madrid being his next potential destination.

Even though many claimed that Alexander-Arnold aimed the same toward his own fans, others laughed that the United supporters don’t know how to count about two. Some appeared to argue that Alexander-Arnold was wrong to celebrate in such a way and that he will end up regretting the same at the end of the season. A Liverpool fan claimed that Alexander-Arnold has been a blessing ever since he joined the club.

Aged 25, it isn’t difficult to see why rumors link the player to the next ‘big’ move of his career. The Englishman has been a crucial element for Liverpool ever since he broke into the first team under Jurgen Klopp. Alexander-Arnold also recreated club legend Steven Gerrard‘s celebration after opening the scoring, although VAR had other plans. Alexander-Arnold has been included in interim England manager Lee Carsley‘s first-ever squad for the Three Lions.
