Liverpool’s crisis deepens even further as Joe Gomez injured in England training
Joe Gomez was expected to lead Liverpool’s centre-backs after Virgil Van Dijk’s injury and now he’s injured too

Joe Gomez suffered an injury while training with the England squad. It is expected that it is a serious injury and he could be out for weeks, if not months. He stands to miss the international friendlies and Euro qualifiers now. Liverpool will be most affected by his absence and will hope to tide over the year now.

The Crisis Deepens

It seems that Liverpool’s misery has no end as their senior centre-back Joe Gomez is injured now. He was the only senior centre-back who had managed to stay free of injury after Virgil Van Dijk was injured against Everton. Now it seems that he couldn’t avoid the trend and goes to the injury table now.

Virgil Van Dijk, Fabinho, Trent Alexander Arnold and Joe Gomez are now missing for Liverpool and this does not look good for them. Joel Matip is the only uninjured senior centre-back for them and even he is too easily injured. He most likely will be partnered with Nathaniel Philipps while Rhys Williams will be in the substitutes.

Jurgen Klopp will be seething now as only days before he had appealed to FIFA about the need to restrict players from going for friendlies. He had argued that travelling to different countries in a pandemic is not the best choice you can make. Also the fixture congestion is such that players are dropping like flies. His argument stands true as Trent Alexander Arnold and Joe Gomez have succumbed to the fixture congestion.

It remains to be seen if he would be allowed to make an emergency signing or if he’ll have to wait till January.
