UEFA Champions League: LOSC Lille vs Chelsea Player Ratings as Chelsea win 2-1 on the night and win the tie 4-1 on aggregate

LOSC Lille vs Chelsea: Lille hosted Chelsea at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in the 2nd Leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

Chelsea started the game in a defensive mindset with only 2 attacking players on the pitch. Lille were awarded a penalty against the run of play which was converted by Burak Yilmaz. But Chelsea struck back in the end of 1st half with a Christian Pulisic goal. They doubled their lead in the second half courtesy Cesar Azpilicueta, sealing the tie with a 4-1 aggregate.

Leo (5.1/10): Leo could have done better to save Pulisic’s goal. He let in another goal in the second half.

Mehmet Zeki Celik (6.6/10): Celik was not effective on the right flank and was subbed off in the second half.

Jose Fonte (6/10): The veteran center back did not have a great game as he was slow to react and got booked for a bad challenge.

Sven Botman (6.7/10): Botman had a decent game at the back but unfortunately got injured and was replaced by Onana.

Tiago Djalo (7.5/10): Djalo completed 3 dribbles and won 14 duels in the match- most for any player.

Jonathan Bamba (6.2/10): The wide man had an average game and was replaced in the second half by Angel Gomes.

Benjamin Andre (6.9/10): Andre made good recoveries in the midfield and brought possession back to Lille.

Xeka (7/10): Xeka came close to scoring but his thumping header in the second half hit the post.

Gabriel Gudmundsson (6.5/10): Apart from getting booked for a challenge on Havertz, Gudmundsson didn’t contribute much to the match.

Burak Yilmaz (7.2/10): Yilmaz was not perfect with his shots and passes but scored the first-half penalty to reduce Lille’s deficit.

Jonathan David (6/10): David had a totally ineffective game as he had zero shots on target.

Thiago Silva (7.5/10): Silva was rock solid in defence. He made crucial blocks and interceptions inside the box.

Antonio Rudiger (7.4/10): The German center back was rugged but completed his task of keeping the Lille forwards at bay.

Cesar Azpilicueta (8/10): The skipper had an amazing game as he scored Chelsea’s winner off his knee from a curling Mount cross.

Mateo Kovacic (6.7/10): Kovacic had a good game in the first half, but Tuchel took him off to return to their usual 3-4-3 formation.

Jorginho (7.7/10): Jorginho was clumsy handling the ball in the middle at times and gave away a penalty after the ball touched his arm. But he provided a brilliant assist to Pulisic at the brink of half time.

N’Golo Kante (7/10): Kante was everywhere on the pitch making challenges and pressing the opponents when not in possession.

Marcos Alonso (7.1/10): Alonso was brought into the game as a specialist in the left wing-back position. He did not disappoint and was clinical in the position.

Christian Pulisic (7.3/10): Pulisic scored the crucial equalizer late in the first half as he fired a shot beating Leo on his far corner.

Kai Havertz (6.6/10): Havertz had an average game upfront but he made a few good runs into Lille’s box.
