Micah Parsons feels at home at the Green Bay Packers. The feeling in Wisconsin is mutual. Matt LaFleur’s quest to build the ultimate football team received a massive boost with Parsons’ addition. He is only the second pass rusher in NFL history to secure at least 12 sacks in each of his first four seasons, and the Packers only gave up two first-round picks and a DT.

So far, LaFleur’s business has paid dividends. After a blowout victory over the Lions, the Packers took down the Washington Commanders on Thursday. Parsons’ availability was in serious doubt due to his back soreness. However, LaFleur put the 26-year-old in, and he played more than 30 snaps, roping two assisted tackles.

Jayden Daniels evaded the pass rush for the most part, but absorbed a couple of sacks. Parsons played a hand on both occasions. The Packers recorded their second straight win to go 2-0 for the season. Some fans stayed behind to watch Parsons’ interview with the Amazon Prime crew. They chanted “thank you, Jerry” as he sat down between former NFL players Ryan Fitzpatrick and Andrew Whitworth.

Micah Parsons is enjoying life in Green Bay

Parsons experienced a tough breakup with his former team. He was overjoyed to wear the star on his helmet as he grew up supporting the Cowboys.

He spent four exceptional seasons in Dallas, but when it was time for an extension, Jerry Jones applied every tactic to low-ball him. Parsons saw no other option but to request a trade, which was granted days before the Lions fixture.

Jones had the power to block the trade from taking place. He let a generational talent leave, and now he’s making plays for the NFC North franchise. Parsons recently revealed that he has been soaking in the Packers experience.

Everyone knows this is my happy place—Yo! It just looks like you are having fun out there, and I am just truly having fun.

Whitworth mentored the year he retired from football. They spent time together in Texas, and the Super Bowl winner imparted wisdom and a few tricks that he had learned over the years. They connected once more during the trade process. Parsons added:

I am just happy and free, like I can finally play—great mentor, he reached out to me through the whole process, I am so thankful to this dude and how happy I am just to be playing football. He just told me every time to stay patient. This is gonna come… Now just go be great and do what you do. And I said that’s the easy part.

Parsons signed a four-year, $188 million contract that included a $44 million bonus at the time of the signing, $136.7 million guaranteed money, and an average annual salary of $46.5 million. His base salary for the 2025 season is $1.17 million while carrying a cap hit of $9.97 million and a dead cap value of $123.1 million.

Fans are expecting big things from Parsons and the Packers this year. They are currently -140 odds on favorites to reach their third straight playoffs.
