Almost 18 months since the announcement of a merger deal, the world of golf is still divided. As the PGA Tour and LIV Golf continue to find a way to finalize the deal, the golfers on the two tours continue to play on separate tours. Former major champion Lucas Glover recently spoke on this and urged for the inclusion of LIV Golfers on signature PGA Tour events.
Golfers from LIV Golf are not allowed to take part in several PGA Tour events. The only ones where they are allowed to compete are the four major championships. Their absence from the PGA Tour has seen a decline in recent PGA Tour viewership.
The PGA Tour currently has eight signature events. Unlike other PGA Tour events, the signature events have increased purse prizes and a limited playing field. This usually sees some of the top names of golf go against each other.
Without the inclusion of LIV Golf, some big names like Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau miss out. Glover has now claimed that these guys are needed in the field if the PGA Tour puts out a signature event.
The 2009 U.S. Open champion also stated that limiting the playing field to 70 to 80 players limits the storylines from the event.

Given the current situation of the merger deal, it will likely take more time for the sport of golf to unify. As per Tiger Woods, things are “very fluid” at the moment regarding this $1.3 billion deal.
Lucas Glover spotted chipping shots at TGL arena
As the countdown for the inaugural TGL season rolls on, several participants have visited the site in recent days. Lucas Glover also paid a visit to the arena and was seen hitting a chip shot on a ‘non-virtual’ TGL course.
In recent videos regarding the TGL, players are seen hitting shots at a virtual screen. However, this was not the case with Glover in his visit.
The Atlanta Drive GC star would instead hit chip shots on a normal course instead of a giant screen. His chip shot would take on a precise bounce on the green zone before finding the hole. Check out a video regarding that below:

Glover will team up with fellow multi-time PGA Tour winners Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, and Billy Horschel as part of the Atlanta Drive GC team. They will take on the New York GC in their opening match on January 21, 2025.
