Lucas Torreira is in dismay at Arsenal

Torreira has fallen out of favour during Mikel Arteta’s reign Arsenal and is willing to force a move out of the club. Gunners would also feel cashing on him can bring in transfer targets like Houssem Aouar to the club.

Torino is the club preferring his signature with Lucas Biglia from Ac Milan also on their wish list. However, Torreira’s acquisition will stand tall if he choose to return back to Italy having there with Sampdoria before moving to England.

Torriera lost place in starting XI

Granit Xhaka and Deni Ceballos bossed the midfield in the team’s FA Cup triumph

Even after making a decent mark on the Arsenal supporters, Lucas has fallen victim to the club’s own feeble policy. His first season at the club was remarkable since making his switch in 2018. The Uruguayan bossed the Arsenal midfield, earning him the praise for creating space under pressure and conceal it while defending.

His next season took a wrong turn with him now replaced from the starting eleven and often played out of his natural place to cope up with then boss Unai Emery’s tactics. This frustrated Toreirra often seen complaining about it. He never regained his position in the team with Arteta now fully putting him to chopping list.

Torreira barely managed game minutes under the Spaniard. Arteta preferred Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos over him to do the task for him. Both took time but got settled with the gaffer’s tactics. This aroused Torreira’s departure calls. He is been linked with a return to Italy on a number of occasions but now it feels the time has arrived.

Plans for Arsenal in the midfield

Lyon’s star midfielder Aouar is a transfer target for the Gunners

Gunners will look to make some cash out of Torreira if they don’t want to use him in future plans. While Torino won’t be paying much, it will still be helpful. The amount received will help their journey to secure some important midfield signings from the market.

The club is struggling financially in the present scenario as they were forced to cut 55 non playing staff to accommodate finances amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. So, they are also in mood to sell unwanted players and replace them with high potential signings.

For midfield options, the club was pulling strings on Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey but found multiple bids rejected for the Ghanaian. Now, they have turned onto Lyon’s Houssem Aouar signature. The 22 year had an impressive Champions league season outing with the French side, reaching the semifinal stage and helping with important contributions. His performances have dragged interest from various European heavyweight but Arsenal seem to be frontrunners.

Whatever it is, the time seems to be up for Torreira at Arsenal. It is sad that the player of his capability couldn’t so much with the club not sticking to his desires. Serie A is the league he is wishing to be in future with a chance to repeat his heroics with Sampdoria. But there is no bid on the table yet.
