Three weeks ago at the Farmers Insurance Open at the Torrey Pines course, Ludvig Aberg was the co-leader after 36 holes. He though later had to withdraw from the event due to an illness. This week, he came back at the Torrey Pines course and finished off the job as he took home the 2025 Genesis Invitational title.
This year the signature event hosted by Tiger Woods was held at the Torrey Pines course in California. The decision to play away from the Rivera Country Club, the original home of the Genesis Invitational, came after the widespread of the Palisades fire in Los Angeles.
Following a Round 3 score of 70, the Swedish international found himself in contention once again on Sunday. After two successive birdies on the 2nd and 3rd hole, he bogeyed the next two holes, putting pressure on himself. He eventually wrapped the front nine with two more birdies on the 7th and 9th hole.
It was the back nine where he went into charge. He made three consecutive birdies on the 13th, 14th, and 15th hole and pulled himself closer to challenging for the title. His 8th birdie of the day came on the final hole, which turned out to be the difference.
With a back nine score of 32, Aberg finished the final round with a score of 6-under 66. As for the tournament, he finished 12-under, one stroke ahead of runner-up Maverick McNealy, who shot an incredible 8-under 64 score on Sunday.

Social media reactions towards Ludvig Aberg’s victory at Genesis Invitational
After winning the Omega Masters in 2023, Ludvig Aberg has been one of the top names in golf. The World No.6 would decide to play on the PGA Tour instead of LIV Golf and has since then came up with some top performances.

While his victory at The RSM Classic in 2023 was special, the triumph on Sunday is so far the biggest one of his career. Golf fans on X were happy to see him clinch this signature event and lauded him. One user wrote, “Best player in the world” while reacting to his win.

Aberg will now turn his attention to Monday’s night TGL. Following a dominating performance from him in the first match, he and his teammates will be looking for a second win of the season against the Atlanta Drive GC.
