Earlier this week, the PGA Tour approved some ‘controversial’ proposals which will bring several changes for the upcoming season. While many golfers criticized this, Swedish star Ludvig Aberg shockingly revealed that he had no idea what was going on.

The World No. 5 will take part in golf for the first time since the Tour Championship in August. He would undergo a knee surgery which forced him to sit out of some tournaments.

As he prepared to enter The RSM Classic this week as the defending champion, Aberg was asked his thoughts about the new changes in the press conference by Golf Digest‘s Shane Ryan. However, the golfer was unable to give any as he had no idea such a thing was going on.

After the golf insider gave him a clear picture of the situation, the golfer seemed stunned and claimed this was news to him.

This is actually news to me, I’m sorry, I did not know that.

Ludvig Aberg said in the press conference

The PGA Tour proposed smaller playing fields for regular season events, fewer graduates from the Korn Ferry Tour, and elimination of Monday qualifiers altogether in some cases. However, the biggest change was reducing the number of exempt members on the tour.

Each year, the top 125 players in the FedEx Cup rankings are allowed to keep full status. This number will now go down from 125 to 100 in the upcoming season. These rules were approved by the PGA Tour policy board consisting of Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, Webb Simpson, and Peter Malnati.

WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark was once again seen on the golf course. The Indiana Fever star last week teed off with World No.1 Nelly Korda at The ANNIKA pro-am. This week she joined Ludvig Aberg during warm-up before taking part in the RSM Pro-Am.

The two sports stars were seen hitting shots off the driving stage while conversing in between. During this, the Swedish golfer jokingly claimed that he would not do too well in basketball. Clark though tried to give him a boost of confidence and asked him “can you jump?

Clark later went on to play the Pro-Am alongside former US Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson, with whom she played in the 2023 John Deere Pro-Am, and tour commissioner Jay Monahan at the Sea Island Golf Club.

As for Aberg, he has been paired with USA’s Matt McCarthy and amateur golfer Luke Clanton for the event. This year he has made 17 cuts in 19 starts and reached the top 10 eight times while finishing as runner-up on three occasions.
