Luka Doncic is a candidate for the MVP and is currently averaging 34.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9 assists this season. Austin Reaves is having a breakout season scoring 28.1 points per game to go along with 7.6 assists and should be a contender for the Most Improved Player award. And most importantly, the Los Angeles Lakers are rolling as they moved to 11-4 after 15 games and currently placed at fourth in the Western Conference standings. Music for Lakers nation.
The vibes are immaculate in the Lakers locker room right now, especially when elder statesman LeBron James made his season debut and put up 11 points and 12 assists to start his 23rd season in the NBA. While James was away, Doncic and Reaves have shared the offensive duties and formed a formidable duo.
One of the main highlights of the Lakers’ season to this point has been the blossoming friendship between the two guards. Following their win over the Jazz, their banter towards one another made its way onto the court.
During Doncic’s interview with Spectrum SportsNet, Reaves came over and interrupted the interview, patting his teammate’s shoulder and telling him, “Good job, friend.” Adding to it, the reporter asked Doncic if they are friends and what does Reaves have to do to be accepted as a friend, Doncic replied:
He wants to be my friend, but I’m not allowing it. Nothing. He can’t do nothing [to be my friend].

Luka Doncic suffers an injury scare
The Lakers were all smiles and jokes after the convincing win over Utah Jazz, but there was a moment in the game where the fans would have had their hearts in their mouths. Doncic had a scary moment after landing awkwardly on one leg, which could have ended badly.

With 2:13 left in the second quarter, Doncic attempted to finish a lob pass from Reaves, but Jazz’s Keyonte George intercepted it in midair. George fell backward, unintentionally making contact with Doncic and forcing Luka to land awkwardly on his left ankle.

Three weeks ago, both Doncic and James missed a game against the Sacramento Kings. Reaves stepped up to the plate and put up the best performance of his life. The 27-year-old guard had 51 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists, winning 127-120.

The historic performance did not just leave the fans speechless but his teammate, Doncic, too. After watching Reaves’ performance, the young superstar shared a clip of the game on his Instagram story with a single word: “GOAT.”
