The Dallas Mavericks have had their heir taking on since Dirk Nowitzki’s retirement. It is non-other than the Slovenian wonder boy Luka Doncic. The successor Luka Doncic has had all the abilities to be a leader for the team. The 2018 draft pick, Luka magic came as a blessing post Dirk Nowitzki era. Once with the Dallas Mavericks, the prolific scorer soon started being the figure head at the team. He has produced some staggering number this season already. Coming up against great players like Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Stephen Curry he has been unstoppable. The young guard has topped huge numbers and as added his name up against the great records. Kevin Durant hurled praises for the young Luka Doncic.
Luka Doncic proved his dominance last year with his step back three pointers being uncontested. He was the reason, Los Angeles Clippers failed to get past them in the playoffs. While putting impeccable game performance, Luka Doncic has equally topped many records. Other than being one of the youngest to play the All-Star games, the Slovenian international has broken some long standing records. This is one of the major reasons, he is already considered one of the Hall of Famers in the near future.
Kevin Durant pours his praise for Luka Doncic
The former ROTY continues to impress as Dallas caught some close games for solidifying their stance in the top 6. Going against the LA Clippers, Luka Doncic scored 43-points, 17 rebounds and 13 assists. The Brooklyn Nets talisman Kevin Durant showered his praise towards the Mavs guard. He said, “He’s just smooth out there. He’s seeing everything before it even happens. He can dictate every pass that he wants. He’s got a nice pace. “He can get you up in the air because everybody is pressing him. He might get a foul on one play—boom, you loosened up now. He gets into the paint, pump-fakes you, you jump, pump-fakes you again because he’s moving so slow, one leg fade. His pace is so incredible to me. …”
He added, “He’s deceptively quick too. He’ll get around you fast, he’ll slip around you fast for a layup, then slow down. That’s how he gets a lot of fouls too. He’ll act like he doesn’t have any athleticism.” The Mavs faced a back lash when their other big man Kristaps Porzingis is out of form. But Luka Doncic has stood out to his words.
The Dallas Mavericks are now #5 seeded in the league. With their recent power performances, against the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets kind of teams. They have barged into the top 6 with some impressive display especially around Luka Doncic. The 22-YO is really getting started before the playoffs. Dallas Mavericks are making a strong case for the championship this year.
