“My bad!” Luka Doncic APOLOGIZED to Mavs teammates after fouling out, causing Game 3 loss

Luka Doncic apologized to Dallas Mavericks teammates after fouling out in Game 3 of NBA Finals

The Dallas Mavericks were three points away from swinging the NBA Finals in their direction. Almost everyone in the sporting world knows that had Luka Doncic stayed in the game, they could have had that chance. But instead, he fouled out with four minutes left in the game.

That hindered any chance of completing the 22-2 rally. The incident has caught fire in the sporting world as almost everyone has come out to bash him for costing his team the chance to win Game 3 against the Boston Celtics.

ESPN’s Malika Andrews sat down with Luka Doncic after Game 3. She particularly asked him about the fouls and leaving the game early.

It's tough. I always say it's easier to be in the game than being on the bench. I was more nervous on the bench. It wasn't the smartest thing to do, this is the Finals.
Luka Doncic replied

To this, Malika Andrews asked if he said anything to his teammates.

Just said, 'My bad, you can’t do that. Especially in the NBA Finals.'
Luka Doncic replied

Luka Doncic knows the extreme levels of criticism thrown in his direction for his bad defense. He acknowledged that he did let the team down.

The 25-year-old superstar understands that his constant complaints to the referees resulted in defensive lapses. That could have also impacted the calls made to him to some extent. Had he just focused on his game, it is possible the outcome could have been different.

Instead, they are now facing the previous challenge of coming back from down 0-3. But that has not stopped Doncic from keeping the hope alive.

Luka Doncic is hopeful of becoming first team to come back from 0-3

No team in NBA history has ever come back from down 0-3 in the playoffs. When Malika Andrews asked Luka Doncic about the mindset the Dallas Mavericks have, the Slovenian knew what his team needed to do.

We've been through a lot. There was a moment in the regular season where we lost five, six in a row, and from there we just went up. I believe we can do it. Because of teammates I have. We have great chemistry, we gonna stay together no matter what.
Luka Doncic said

He knows it is a monumental task to come back from going down 0-3. However, he believes the chemistry in the team can help them be the first team ever to conquer this deficit.

The Dallas Mavericks were struggling for much of the regular season. But after the trade deadline, along with the new pieces, the Mavericks had one of the best runs to close out the regular season. That form continued into the playoffs, helping them get into the NBA Finals. That is despite this season being one of the most competitive in the Western Conference.

Therefore, they know how to win. It is just that Luka Doncic and the rest of his teammates have to rekindle that form. They need to find that extra gear against the Boston Celtics.
