It is not often the case that Luka Doncic phases out or does something wrong in clutch situations. As some suggest, it is not only about defensive vulnerabilities that the 2011 NBA Champions have. But they have only been able to register themselves as a playoff team because of the difference in game play during clutch situations. Luka Doncic blames himself for this loss though against the Suns for missing couple of clutch shots. 

The Mavs were able to defend Devin Booker and Chris Paul during majority of the game. But offensively they lacked to overturn those gameplays. Luka Doncic has a lot going into the season, he has been predicted as the MVP over Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, James Harden and LeBron James.

“I’ve got to stop taking these very bad shots. It wasn’t just the last one, but it was a couple of them. It’s not good for me, it’s not good for the team and I’ve got to change it.”

The Mavs have to improve as they face one of the strongest teams in the Western Conference, Los Angeles Lakers. Especially a wounded Lakers squad who have lost to city rivals Los Angeles Clippers. With Lebron James leading them, Doncic led Mavericks have to be on their toes. 

But will Doncic be able to perform at the ‘MVP’ level? It remains to be seen. As we all are aware it is better to make a good start in this league, especially after all the injured last seasons’ stars have returned to their respective franchises.
