The Dallas Mavericks started their 2024-25 NBA campaign on a great note. But soon that seemed to change over the last few games. They have lost their last four games in a row, with their recent loss coming on Thursday night against the Utah Jazz. The Mavs fans were left bamboozled. This was after witnessing Mavs and their star man Luka Doncic‘s performance towards the end of the game.

The Mavs lost to the Jazz in a poor fashion, conceding a game-winning bucket with 6.4 seconds left on the clock. It’s important to note that they were without another star, Kyrie Irving, going into this game.

However, all focus went on Doncic’s last minute defending against the Jazz. During the last play of the game, Doncic was seen strolling around, leaving his attacker unmarked. This led to the Jazz forward, John Collins score the winner.

NBA fans were left furious by this, as they made sure to take their anger and frustrations on social media. One fan called out Doncic for his poor defense in the game. The fan wrote, “Luka might be the laziest defender in the NBA” after witnessing his defense in the end.

Contradictory to that statement, Doncic did perform admirably in offense. He had a 37-point, nine-assist, seven-rebound outing against the Jazz. That said, it was Jazz’s Collins, who finished with a team-high 28 points, including the game-winning basket of a dish from Jordan Clarkson with 6.4 seconds left. The Mavs will have to figure out their issues quickly before they call it quits on this season.

Fans angry after witnessing Luka Doncic’s ‘poor’ defending

Luka Doncic had his fair share of errors against the Utah Jazz lately. His ‘lazy’ defending cost his side their 4th consecutive loss of this season. The Dallas Mavericks now are (5-7) in the West and sit at 12th in the table. Their recent loss and Doncic’s mistake did not go down well with the Mavs fans.

Interestingly, Doncic received enough offensive support. Klay Thompson scored 17 points despite having a poor shooting night (6-of-17).
