Luka Doncic and Caitlin Clark

WNBA star Caitlin Clark recently made headlines when she shed some light on the controversial NBA GOAT debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan, choosing James in the process. However, now it’s the other way around as NBA stars are choosing her as the best player in the WNBA. James’ teammate Luka Doncic to be particular, made this recent revelation.

As they progress through the NBA playoffs, Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers are playing a first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Slovenian talked about some of the top WNBA players in a one-on-one interview amidst the playoffs. He opened up on his favorite player in the WNBA currently, and made no hesitation.

Caitlin Clark.

When asked about his favorite women’s basketball player, Luka Doncic said

In the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark was selected by the Indiana Fever as the first overall choice. After four years with the Iowa Hawkeyes, she transferred to the WNBA. Initially, the Fever star faced immense criticism from her naysayers and haters in and around the WNBA.

Clark overcame all that and made a quick impression in her rookie season, guiding the Fever to their first-ever playoffs since 2016. She has been one of the most popular personalities in the WNBA ever she entered the league last year.

Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game in her debut campaign at Indiana. She led all rookies in average scoring and the WNBA in average assists. In the end, the Connecticut Sun defeated Clark and the Fever in the playoffs. Now, Clark will be joining the Indiana Fever for her second season.

Luka Doncic shared his views on Clark’s future rival, Paige Bueckers

The Lakers’ star not only spoke about Clark but also her upcoming rival, Paige Bueckers. Doncic, a former Dallas Mavericks player, has good ties with the city. Similarly, Buckers was selected by the Dallas WNBA side, the Wings, with the No. 1 overall pick. Doncic was asked about her as well, in the same interview. However, his response was clear about Bueckers.

She’s OK. I haven’t seen her playing in the women’s NBA.

Luka Doncic said

Doncic’s answer is understandable, as not many people have seen Bueckers live in action to pass a judgment on her. For now, Clark edges the battle between the two. Last season, Bueckers helped lead the UConn Huskies to the national championship, capping her collegiate basketball career. So all eyes will be on the new Wings player going into her rookie WNBA season.

Lakers star Dorian Finney-Smith shed some light on Luka Doncic’s mentality despite Game 3 loss

In Game 3 of the Los Angeles Lakers’ first-round playoff game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, Luka Doncic looked nothing like himself, and with good reason. Before the game began, it was discovered that Doncic was suffering from a sickness and had been throwing up in the locker room. Despite that, Doncic turned up for his side, leaving his teammate Dorian Finney-Smith impressed with his commitment.

Just him fighting. He was fighting, trying to be there for us. I didn’t think he was gonna come out for the second half. I looked at his elbow, he had like a big knot on his elbow. I was like god damn, you’re sick and you’re getting beat up still. He’s just a tough guy. I know he wants to win. He’ll be ready next game.

Dorian Finney-Smith said

Doncic was at the helm of the attack in both Game 1 and Game 2 of this series. Unlucky for him, he had to face an illness just before Game 3, leading to his side’s loss. Despite not being at all well, Doncic persevered throughout the game, playing 40 minutes. Nevertheless, the Lakers will need him to give it his all on Sunday afternoon because there isn’t much time between Games 3 and 4, and he will undoubtedly do so.
