It was a typical dominant performance from Luka Doncic against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks, as the Lakers recorded a convincing 129-119 win at the Crypto.com Arena on Friday night.
Luka Doncic, who is leading the league with 35.1 points per game, scored 35 points to go along with five rebounds and 11 assists but was outscored by his teammate, Austin Reaves, who went on to lead the scoring with 38 points. Therefore, it was Reaves whom the NBA on Prime crew interviewed after the game.
The win extended the Lakers’ winning streak to six games as they remain second in the Western Conference standings with a 13-4 record, while the Mavs’ disastrous start to the season continued as they lie in the 14th spot.
After the match, NBA on Prime analyst Dirk Nowitzki got on a Facetime call with Doncic. Host Taylor Rooks asked Doncic how Nowitzki was able to fit in his new car. Doncic answered, “No, he couldn’t get in the car.”

Last week, Doncic made a big investment as he bought a $5 million Bugatti W16 Mistral roadster. A limited-edition roadster that serves as the final production car to feature the brand’s W16 engine. The Slovenian was flaunting his recent purchase on social media when rapper Snoop Dogg made a surprise visit to the Lakers training facility.
Austin Reaves compliments Luka Doncic
Both Doncic and Reaves have carried the Lakers offense during the absence of LeBron James. The two guards have formed one of the most lethal backcourts in the league today.

After the 129-119 win over the Mavs, Reaves, who scored his fifth 30-point game of the 2025-26 season, spoke about Doncic in the post-match interview.
I usually don’t give Luka too many compliments, but he’s one of the best players in the league. Has been since he came into the league. He makes the game look easy, draws so much attention.
Austin Reaves said
"I usually don't give Luka too many compliments but he's one of the best players in the league."

While there were questions and doubts about whether they could continue producing the same level of offense with the return of James, those doubts have been put to rest for now as the Lakers have gone 4-0 since his return.
Gilbert Arenas on the Lakers ‘Big Three’
It is four wins in four games for the Lakers since the return of James to the squad. The trio have been functioning on all cylinders despite James slowly finding his way into top condition. It has been a new change for James as this is the first time he is not the number one option on the team.
Gilbert Arenas spoke about the Lakers ‘Big Three’ and what he feels about them.
I’ma go out on a limb here, and I’ma say it, this is probably the best ‘Big 3’ in the regular season…ever. I think this three is better than Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson.
Gilbert Arenas said on Gil’s Arena
"[The Lakers] Big 3 is the best Big 3 in the NBA…ever"@NoChillGilZero is VERY high on the Lakers Big 3 of LeBron James, Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic. pic.twitter.com/X9KOHDJnvv

Doncic is a proven superstar. The Slovenian has been on a rampage this season as he continues to put in MVP level performances every night. Reaves has been a revelation for the Lakers this campaign with his spectacular offense on a regular basis. And then there is James, who might be turning 41 soon but can still pose a threat on any given night.
