Los Angeles point-guard Luka Doncic and ‘Drop It Like Its Hot’ rapper Snoop Dogg sat down for an interview in the Lakers practice facility. The 54-year-old Hip-Hop star made an appearance and met with Doncic, James and the other stars. Dogg surprised the team by greeting them as they entered the Lakers’ practice facility and got all their autographs on his Lakers jacket.
Doncic and Dogg bonded later as both of them sat down for an interview and the guard flaunted his new luxury car along with the rapper. Doncic is the new face of the most-stories franchise in NBA history, LA Lakers. While he was close to winning his first NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks two years ago, the Slovenian will be looking to win his first title with the Lakers.
The link-up took place during the break for the Lakers after a hectic five-game road-trip. Doncic has been putting up MVP numbers this season with a stat line of 34.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 8.9 assists this season as he has carried the Lakers to third place in a stacked Western Conference in the absence of James for the first 14 games.
During the interview, Dogg asked Doncic what the toughest part is about sharing the court with James, who is playing in a record-breaking 23rd season.
I wouldn’t say any toughest. He just wants to be great. Just talking about his 23rd season, I say, ‘I might not be able to walk in my 23rd season.’ And he’s still doing it at the best of the best. It’s insane.
“Kobe brought so many championships here. You know Lebron brought a championship here, so I want to be the next one to do it for sure.”

Luka Doncic wants to follow in the footsteps of the late Kobe Bryant
This Lakers team is a Doncic led team. He is their primary scorer, ball-handler and playmaker. The Lakers management are clearly building the roster around the five-time NBA All-Star as they prepare for the post-James era.

There is always the pressure of delivering a championship at the Lakers. The ‘purple and gold’ team can boast of having several legends of the game within their ranks throughout history, with many going on to deliver championships for the franchise.
The most popular of them being Kobe Bryant. The Lakers legend spent his entire 20-year career with the Lakers. Widely regarded as one of the most influential players of all time, Bryant has won five NBA championships to go along with several individual accolades.
Every Lakers fan is a Bryant fan and so is Snoop Dogg. Hence, Dogg asked Doncic about his relationship with the Lakers five-time NBA champion and his mission to win a championship.
Yeah, for sure. I mean, Kobe brought so many championships here. You know, LeBron brought a championship here. So I want to be the next one to do that for sure. But just, you know, I met Kobe. I played with LeBron. I just was lucky in Slovenia. You know, I just wanted to play basketball. Just wanted to touch the NBA. And now I’m playing with the best.
Luka Doncic’s impact with the Lakers
There is no doubt that the 26-year-old has elevated the Lakers chances of contending for a NBA championship. While Doncic and the entire team have struggled from the three-point line, there is reason to believe that the shots will start going in eventually with the return of James.
Despite the shooting from deep struggles, Doncic is leading the league in points per game. He has now become the first player in NBA history to record 400+ points and 100+ assists in the first 12 games of a season. The guard has formed a formidable offensive duo with Austin Reaves as the two have been unstoppable from the backcourt.
There may still be a considerable gap between the Lakers and the two top teams in the west, Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. There is still a lot to play for in the regular season as James integrates himself into the squad and builds team chemistry.
