The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves played at the Target Center in Minnesota on Tuesday night. The Mavs improved their record to 3-1 in their first four games of the 2024-25 NBA season with a victory of 120-114. Interestingly, both sides faced off after playing against each other during the 2023-24 NBA Playoffs, with the Mavs coming out victorious.

Nothing seems to change this time around, as well. The Mavs prevailed in this matchup, with their star players, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, stepping up from them. Not only that, Doncic has been making rounds on the internet as he recreated his ‘Iconic WCF Finals stepback three’ against the Wolves. After making the shot, Doncic roared, “This is what I fu***ng do!”

In addition, in 40 minutes of action, Doncic finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and one steal. He also shot 10/27 from the field and 1/8 from three-point range. With sixty-four seconds remaining, he made the dagger to give the Mavs an eight-point lead. His teammate, Kyrie Irving, had a monstrous performance against the Wolves.

Irving finished first for the Mavericks, scoring 35 points, five assists, and four rebounds. However, as for the Timberwolves, their star, Anthony Edwards, solo effort went in vain. He led all scorers on the court by scoring 37 points against the Mavs. Despite the loss, the Timberwolves fans can take out the positives, especially with their star player, Edwards, in top form this season.

Luka Doncic exited the Mavs vs. Timberwolves game before halftime due to injury

Just before halftime on Tuesday night at Target Center in Minneapolis, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic left the game due to injury. But came back to begin the third quarter against the Timberwolves. Doncic could not sprint back down the court on defense when he began grasping at his leg during a Mavericks possession.

In a video posted by ‘ClutchPoints’ on their official X account, Doncic struggled to put any weight on his right leg. This was after suffering an apparent injury in this collision with Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels. This led to him being assisted to the locker room before halftime to assess the depth of his injury.

However, he returned to action soon after and saw out his side’s win against a tough opponent in the Timberwolves. The Mavs have made a great start to the season and are looking even stronger than the past 2023-24 NBA season. They will look to go all the way this season after failing to win the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics last season.
