But this is where things get interesting. If Doncic instead goes for a 3-year shorter deal rather than the 4-year deal, he would earn $160 million with a player option in 2028-29.

By doing this, Doncic would be eligible to ink a massive 5-year, $369 million contract in 2028. Hence, he is in a pole position to make this decision on August 2. It remains to be seen which road the Lakers superstar prefers in the coming month.
