Anthony Edwards felt bad for Luka Doncic after Los Angeles Lakers trade
The sporting world did not believe their eyes and ears on Saturday evening. They needed to reconfirm that the Dallas Mavericks had indeed traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. In the aftermath, the focus comes back to current players and how safe they are in their roles.
So far, players controlled most of the actions over the course of their careers. Teams consult top superstars before making personnel changes That is something that the likes of LeBron James has enjoyed over almost the entirety of his 22-year career.
But now, the Lakers kept James in the dark as they and the Mavericks executed a deal that would help their own interests. They did not inform the players agents as that could have an impact on the trade. With everything unfolding, reporters asked Anthony Edwards about his reaction to the trade.

His plea to Minnesota Timberwolves president Tim Connelly was met with a round of laughter. But he did make a point that if Luka Doncic could be traded at age 25 after just making it to the NBA Finals, anybody can be forced to leave.
Luka Doncic’s could have ripple effects on league
This deal shocked Anthony Edwards and many others. His idol Kevin Durant was one of the first that spoke up. He pointed towards the hypocrisy the media shows towards teams, as they would blame a player if they asked for a trade.
However, it points to the possibility that teams in the future can resort to such moves. In a day and age where players and their agents dictate terms, teams can force their hand. A team can now learn from what the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks did.
They could talk amongst themselves, finalize a deal and ring up the players in question along with the league to notify them of the move. That can leave players without any say from their end. Teams can even freeze out agents to make such deals happen.
This could also push players to take their jobs seriously. Over the past year, the attitude of players towards taking games off and maintaining their conditioning for their own benefits can now come with repercussions.
Teams unhappy with their players could just offload them. Luka Doncic for instance just lost out on more than $100 million. All that means, players will now have to be focused on their job. This trade has shown that teams can take necessary action if they want.
