In the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA created history in the basketball competition. They won their historic 5th Gold medal, led by LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant. Team USA has been the most dominant nation in the history of the Olympics when it comes to basketball. However, many believe that the foreign players will catch up to the Americans in the future.
Durant has expressed what he thinks about basketball’s growing global significance. The 17-year veteran vehemently disagreed with the idea that basketball skills from other countries is catching up to that of the United States. He boldly claimed that the likes of current overseas NBA stars like Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic are influenced by the ‘Americans.’
Even at 36, Durant is still regarded as one of the best players in the league. He has played in 29 games this season, averaging 27.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists from a remarkable 52.4% shooting percentage. The Phoenix Suns have a 19-20 (48.7%) record and are ranked 11th in the Western Conference, despite his individual brilliance.
On the other hand, the Suns have an 18-11 record with a 62.1% winning rate when Durant is playing. However, considering the Suns’ continued quest for a title and the importance of Durant’s deal, the team’s problems have given rise to trade rumors concerning him. All eyes will be on the Durant situation going forward into the season.
Kevin Durant HATED playing against THIS team in the NBA
NBA rivalries have often garnered much attention from the world. One such rivalry dates back to the early 2010s and involved the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Memphis Grizzlies. In the most recent Out The Mud Podcast episode, Kevin Durant and Tony Allen recapped this legendary showdown. Durant admitted that he ‘hated’ the Grizzlies back then.
It makes sense that Durant would be frustrated at having to face Allen. The “First Team All-Defense” guard was the hardest man Kobe Bryant has ever had to play against. This was according to Bryant himself. The combination of TA’s innate talent on that end of the floor and his love of watching player clips made him a real threat.
