Luka Modric is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders of his generation. The Croatian magician has weaved magic in the heart of Madrid’s midfield since 2012.
After almost 12 years and several titles later, the time has finally come for the player to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. Several reports state that the player will leave the club at the end of the season.
However, Modric himself is contemplating on extending his stay, with the player having already expressed his desire to sign a new deal. The 38-year-old’s current contract expires on June 30 and with age catching up to the player, many believe that the club will let him go. However, Modric is so keen on staying at Real Madrid that he rejected two major offers from other clubs.
With the arrival of Aurelien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga, Modric and midfield partner Toni Kroos have been relegated to a position on the bench.
The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has made 42 appearances in all competitions this season, while also grabbing two goals and 6 assists in the process.
