It appears Cam Newton’s former teammate doesn’t agree with the case he has been making for the Baltimore Ravens’ star quarterback claiming he is even better than Newton in his prime. Luke Kuechly boldly made his pick when asked to choose between the two quarterbacks.
In his recent appearance on the Up & Adams show by Kay Adams, the future Hall of Fame linebacker was asked to choose between Newton in his prime or Lamar Jackson in his prime, he picked the former NFL signal-caller without even a slight hesitation.
I’m partial to Cam, and I’ll say this. I think that playing against Cam Newton would be so difficult because of how physical he was. He’s big, he’s physical. Lamar is a pain to tackle, he’s a pain to get your hands on, he’s a pain to keep in the pocket. But you can get on him, you can get him on the ground.Luke Kuechly said
The former Carolina Panthers linebacker admitted that Newton was someone who would be reckoned with in critical situations. And with his pairing with lead blocker Mike Tolbert, it was daunting for the opposing defense.
With Cam, he's running through you on third down, and one and fourth, fourth and goal, third and two at the 2-yard line, you know exactly what plays come.Luke Kuechly added
What exactly did Cam Newton say about Lamar Jackson?
Contrary to what his former teammate said, Newton has been coming in the defense of the reigning NFL MVP quite a lot lately, amidst the criticism he has been enduring for his poor postseason record. He even chose him as the greatest dual-threat quarterback over himself, during an episode of his 4th and 1 podcast.
Lamar's style is different than mine. He's got big plays any play. He's got speed that I never had. And he's just a legend.Cam Newton said making a case for Jackson as the greatest dual-threat QB
He believes the amount of criticism the Ravens quarterback has been receiving is absolutely uncalled for and he shall be given time to develop, just like the legend Peyton Manning got.
