England international Luke Shaw has reportedly missed another training session with the national team, increasing concerns over his chances at the 2024 Euros. The 28-year-old is still recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained in February.
Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate has been facing a new selection dilemma after the team’s first-choice left-back missed another training session. Shaw had been picked in the 26-man England squad for Euro 2024 despite missing most of the 2023-24 season due to injury. The Manchester United star’s participation in the tournament is now in doubt as he continues with individualized training sessions, away from the main team.
The 28-year old full-back also missed training prior to their last match against Denmark. As a result of it, he was omitted from the playing XI against the Danes, with Southgate forced to pick right-back Kyle Walker to play at the left. Shaw remained an unused substitute throughout the game. Moreover, England’s lack of width on the left has been a concern in their first two games, underscoring Shaw’s crucial role for the national team.

This issue has further complicated matters for the manager, who has recently faced criticism for flaring up midfield issues and playing players out of position. The team’s lackluster performance against the Danes has only increased the scrutiny.
Luke Shaw blames himself and Manchester United medical team for his persistent injuries
Manchester United and England left-back Luke Shaw admitted that both he and the club’s medical staff were responsible for his recurring injuries. The 28-year old agreed to have made a mistake by pushing himself to play the FA Cup final which aggravated his injury.
Additionally, he also took a dig at the United medical staff for giving him an all-clear, despite a serious hamstring injury against Aston Villa in February. The injury subsequently flared up in the next match against Luton.
Shaw appeared for United just 15 times in the 23-24 season and has been struggling to regain full fitness. As the only left-back in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad, he will be crucial for the team.
