IPL 2021: Lungi Ngidi joins Chennai Super Kings camp after completing quarantine; available for selection

MS Dhoni, Jadeja and Lungi Ngidi celebrating
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) notched up a facile win yesterday over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) that saw them come up with a superb bowling performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Deepak Chahar was the wrecker-in-chief as he picked up four wickets in his first spell, removing a huge chunk of the PBKS top order. The chase was then completed with ease in under 16 overs.
It was a welcome return to form for CSK’s bowlers after their performance in their opening match which saw them look clueless against the Delhi Capitals (DC) openers. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw were in marauding form brushing aside the bowlers, but with the victory against PBKS, the bowlers are bound to feel more confident going into the next few fixtures.
Lungi Ngidi to be available for selection against RR

South African pacer Lungi Ngidi missed the first two matches for CSK due to his quarantine period following his arrival from South Africa where the national team were occupied in a series with Pakistan. While his fellow South African Quinton de Kock had arrived early and completed his quarantine for Mumbai Indians (MI) and hence, played his side’s second match, Ngidi was not available for his side’s second.
He will now be available for selection in CSK’s next match which will be against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on the 19th of March. It remains to be seen as to whether CSK would want to bring him into the side straight away. With the Dwayne Bravo performing well with the ball and the likes of Moeen Ali and Sam Curran coming up with all-round displays, it remains to be seen as to how Ngidi would fit in.
