Minnesota Lynx coach's comment ages poorly as Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark shows levels in road game

Caitlin Clark is without a doubt the primary reason many opposing arenas in the WNBA are filling out. In certain cases, news of her coming to another city has forced that franchise to move to a larger arena. The Minnesota Lynx did not have to move out of Target Center, but they saw an unprecedented no. of Indiana Fever fans in their arena with Clark about to roll in. However, Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve was dismissive about it.

Prior to the game, a reporter asked Reeve what her approach would be with all the opposing team fans in their home court.

I don't give two s**ts, not even one s**t.

She was dismissive of the mere fact that a horde of opposing fans were about to take over her arena. Effectively making it a home game for the Indiana Fever.

The Minnesota Lynx team is one of the favorites to contend for the WNBA title. With that in mind, this blunt response from Cheryl Reeve aged poorly as Clark and her Fever romped away to the 2nd straight victory. A victory that had a lot to do with how Caitlin Clark and her teammates adjusted to the game in the 4th quarter.

In fact, Clark’s deeply contested 3-pointer started their comeback. That shot had the crowd going wild. That energy seemed to transition to the Indiana Fever as they pushed for the extra rebound or block. All of that mattered at the final buzzer as Cheryl Reeve was made to eat her own words.

Caitlin Clark leads assists charts

Caitlin Clark might be a rookie, but she is not playing like a rookie. After struggling initially, the former Iowa star has been on a run. She managed to climb the charts in a lot of categories. Most importantly, she is now sitting comfortably atop the assists charts.

It should be noted that Clark made her name as a scorer primarily while in college. But in the WNBA, she has struggled to shoot at her college efficiency. The aftermath of that is that she is leaving a lot of points on the table. On the other hand, her assists are raising eyebrows. Especially, the way she uses her pace to get into scoring positions, drawing opponent defenders, then sending the ball to her teammate.

If she continues at this pace, she should set the WNBA Rookie record for assists in a season. She could also take a shot at the WNBA all-time assists record.
