With UFC 303 edging nearer, the mind games between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor are taking shape in full swing. The duo meet at UFC 303’s featured five-round welterweight headliner. The June 29 event at T-Mobile Arena (ESPN+) marks McGregor’s first fight since his 2021 trilogy loss. ‘Iron’ took a snap alongside singer Machine Gun Kelly at a pool party at the “Casamigos.” He blatantly captioned a hint of ‘plot’ between the pair.
‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is incomprehensibly creative in his talk-trash mettle. He proactively steals a title strap from Jose Aldo and went on to have some of the most iconic one-liners; he has done it all. But credit is due for ‘Iron’ as well; after all, he did cut a full WWE-esque promo at Anaheim, 48 hours after UFC 298, calling out the rival. Michael Chandler does it yet again, with just an image and a sentence.
Plotting with @machinegunkelly……63 days #UFC303…Michael Chandler via X (@MikeChandlerMMA)
Coming right off the bat, he openly voices ‘plotting’ against his UFC 303 foe. A banter and build-up has been in the works since before they were co-coaches on TUF: Season 31. The current diss comes at the cost of a 2021 post-injury McGregor’s texts to actress Megan Fox, causing an altercation at the MTV Video Music Awards between him and Machine Gun Kelly. The duo almost went to blows.
The pair have beefed ever since. Seemingly, now Michael Chandler takes it upon himself to try to get into the headspace of the opponent. Chandler also mentioned that it would take 63 days until their welterweight battles take shape. Other peers might jibe that he relentlessly dreams of fighting McGregor. But he keeps his hardcore resolve alive. He had tweeted similar intentions back in March.
Shedding light on the brief feud between Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly
22-6 former two-division titleholder Conor McGregor makes his way back to the octagon after a 3-year layoff. He faces long-expectant rival Michael Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in a welterweight bout at UFC 303.
Ahead of this, Chandler posted a picture of him with Machine Gun Kelly. Keen-eyed MMA enthusiasts remember his 2021 scuffle with McGregor by heart. So, what really happened between the fighter and MGK? Here’s an effort to shed some light on the supposed reason behind it.
Initially, rumors were abuzz that the singer had refused to take photos and misbehaved with the fighter. This was debunked to be otherwise. McGregor was apparently DM’ing Hollywood bombshell Megan Fox, which caused the melee on the red carpet. Fox and MGK have been known to be dating for a while. According to tabloid show “Extra,” that is what set the singer off. It shaped up to some probably heated exchange of words. Later, McGregor even infamously threw a drink at the couple.
The Irishman soon denied knowing GMK other than that he dated Fox, which had been in the news for a while. Later, the fighter notoriously posted a reel of Fox at one of his fight walkouts, enjoying. The interaction and the subsequent mockery have kept the feud alive ever since, which Chandler now means to bank on. It remains to be seen when and how ‘The Notorious’ retaliates.
