“It was a practically perfect fight,” says Mackenzie Dern on her win against Nina Nunes
Jiu-jitsu world champion Mackenzie Dern is very happy with her recent performance against Nina Nunes at UFC Vegas 23 on April 11. Both the fighters went against each other at the UFC Fight Night: Vettori vs.Holland. The strawweight bout went in favor of Mackenzie Dern as she won the fight via submission in the very first round.
Mackenzie Dern is fairly new to the promotion and has a record of 11-1-0 in her professional career as an MMA fighter. The strawweight fighter is on a 4-fight consecutive winning streak and will soon be eyeing for the title. She has lost only one bout in her career against Amanda Ribas. In a recent interview with Ag Fight, Dern spoke about her previous fight.
“It was a practically perfect fight. There was just one thing. I felt like I landed my punches, but sometimes I felt like I was kind of rotating. In the clinch, for example. I wanted to land some elbows. I want to be aggressive on the fence, like I was in the beginning of my career,” Mackenzie Dern said in the interview.
Mackenzie Dern feels that she has Knockout power
Mackenzie Dern is very satisfied with her evolution as a very prominent striker. The strawweight fighter was mostly known for her grappling and skills on the canvas, but off late she has shown that she can be a great striker too. “I’m ready to trade strikes on the feet.” Dern said.
“I have the power and the technique to knock someone out. Not all strawweights have knockout power. But my striking is more about getting them concerned about it before I take them down. It’s to open up some room,” Mackenzie ended.
