Madison Keys finally fulfilled her Grand Slam dream when she beat Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the Australian Open. Keys’ coach and husband Bjorn Fratangelo, during Andy Roddick‘s podcast, explained what shot he wants Keys to learn from the Belarusian.
Sabalenka was bidding to become the first woman to complete the three-peat at Melbourne Park since Martina Hingis. But Keys had other ideas, as, after edging World No.2 Iga Swiatek in the last four, she was successful in overcoming the World No.1 in the final. Keys’ goal didn’t end there as she wants to continue improving her game but one shot that Fratangelo wanted her to learn is the forehand dropper that Sabalenka had produced in the final.
What Sabalenka did to Madi in the second set is what I would love to see Madi do. I work on the forehand dropper with her probably three times a week, every week, as long as I have been coaching her and how many droppers have you seen off that wing in her matches?

Keys wanted to play in the Qatar Open but she withdrew from it because of a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old, however, is on the Dubai Tennis Championships entry list. She also wanted to play in the ATX Open but a WTA rule denied her entry.
Madison Keys’ coach Bjorn Fratangelo thinks Elena Rybakina can become World No.1
Elena Rybakina is in Abu Dhabi participating in the WTA 500 event, where she reached the quarterfinal and is set to lock horns with three-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur. Rybakina currently stands at No.5 in the rankings but Madison Keys‘ coach Bjorn Fratangelo believes the Kazakh ace has the ability to reach the top of the rankings.

I thnk starting with Rybakina match, she is so good. If she could, I don’t know, get healthy, play a full schedule, and whatever is going on, if that could be put behind her, she could potentially be number one.

Rybakina, an eight-time WTA titlist, achieved her best rankings when she reached the No.3 position in June 2023. Last year, due to multiple reasons, including a weakened immune system, Rybakina wasn’t able to produce consistent performance and took a break after the US Open, skipping the Asian swing.
She kick started her 2025 season at the United Cup, helping Kazakhstan reach the semifinals but they lost to Poland. It was Keys who ended the 25-year-old’s campaign at the Australian Open with a three-set win in the fourth round.
