The evening session at the Madrid Open was underway today, with Rafael Nadal taking to the courts to try and secure a slot in the fourth round. He was dominating Argentinian Pedro Cachin in the first set, having taken a 5-1 lead with two breaks of serve, when a spectator in the crowd seemed to have an incident about their health.

Rafa was quick to notice this and immediately went up to the chair umpire to let him know. The umpire then noticed what was happening and officials were sent to the aid of the fan, who had apparently fallen ill.

One side of the stands in the Manolo Santana Arena, where the match was in progress, was directly in range of the evening sun. It was this very side that the fan who had the unfortunate episode sitting on. Although the exact details are not clear, it is a possibility that the heat may have gotten the better of the fan.

Pedro Cachin also rushed to help the spectator

As Nadal engaged in conversation with the umpire, urging him to send assistance to the fan, his opponent Cachin rushed to his kit, grabbing some water and then passing it along to the fan.

The actions of both players have gained much appreciation by netizens as they have shown tremendous sportsman spirit in caring for a fan, midway through an intense and crucial game.
