Magic Johnson, joined by his wife Cookie and friends, is enjoying a luxurious summer getaway in Capri, Italy. The former Lakers legend, now a successful businessman and sports team owner, showcased his lavish yacht as a symbol of his immense wealth. Much like Michael Jordan, Johnson transitioned from basketball greatness to business success after retirement.

Personalities like Johnson, Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, and even current NBA star LeBron James are all walking the same pathway. As for Johnson, he is one of the biggest business tycoons in sports personalities. It’s not usual to see Johnson flexing his yacht.

A few days earlier, while in Greece, Johnson, 65, and his wife, Cookie, 66, displayed an amazing toga party on the yacht, but they did not show off the entire vessel. The couple is having a great time on their yearly summer vacation with their buddies. Since it is the 4th of July week, Johnson decided to take to his socials about the stunning yacht.

The former Los Angeles Lakers icon was shown strolling on a treadmill while on board the 312-foot (!) superyacht Whisper in a post on Instagram. According to reports, it is the German shipyard Lürssen constructed Whisper in 2014. It has a private theater that can accommodate 12 people, a gym, a sauna, and a pool. The cost of renting the superyacht for a week is $1.4 million.

Given that, fans were quick to make their opinions heard via different social media platforms, with many having hilarious takes on the post. After coming across Johnson’s wealth, many of the fans were left shocked, especially those who were not familiar with the former Lakers player.

Fans react to Magic Johnson flexing his yacht on his way to Italy

Nowadays, social media is one of the biggest places where people of all sorts, rich or poor, convey their messages in the form of a message or by posting photos/videos of their activities. This is exactly what Magic Johnson did. As mentioned above, Johnson took to his Instagram to showcase his summer activities, sailing off in a stunning yacht.

The former Laker would have been aware of the fans reacting to such posts before making one. It’s safe to say he received plenty of fan reactions, especially from the basketball fanbase. One fan wrote on X, “The zoom out called me all types of poor.” Check out some of the reactions below:

Johnson’s rise in wealth surprisingly started after retiring from basketball. In the 1980s, Johnson earned only around $40 million total as a Laker. He amassed his fortune through collaborative ventures in a variety of industries, including real estate, healthcare, Starbucks franchises, and movie theaters. This led to Forbes naming him a billionaire in 2023.

NFL legend Tom Brady reacts to Magic Johnson’s luxurious yacht video

Magic Johnson, flaunting his summer trip, especially the stunning yacht in his video, garnered immense reactions, not only from fans but also from one of the biggest sporting personalities in the nation. NFL legend Tom Brady was also taken away with Johnson’s latest Instagram post about ‘the Whisper.’ Brady commented, ‘Yessir (along with a fire emoji)’ on the post.

Renting a $1.4 million yacht is not for everyone, but Johnson can afford it. Mainly because his 60% ownership share in Equitrust, a life insurance company, accounts for the majority of his wealth. Since he took control in 2015, the company’s assets under administration have increased from $16 billion to $27 billion.
