It was a spectacle to remember last night as Team India hosted their victory parade in Mumbai which started from Marine Drive and eventually concluded at the home of Indian cricket, Wankhede Stadium. There was no dearth of excitement and passion amongst the fans and somehow after all of it, there were a few grunts of injuries and mismanagement.
Picking it up in no time whatsoever, Maharashtra deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis has announced that it’s time to get a bigger and better stadium than the historic Wankhede which has been the host to countless big games in the antiquity of Indian cricket.

Talking at a ceremony held at the state legislative building’s central hall which were to felicitate the presence of the four Mumbai players in the team, namely Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Fadnavis highlighted the urgent need of a bigger stadium.
We have one of the historic stadiums in Mumbai in the form of Wankhede stadium. Ashish ji (BCCI treasurer and BJP MLA Ashish Shelar) is here. Mumbai needs a bigger stadium than Wankhede. Therefore, in near future our chief minister will extend all possible help to MCA and BCCI. Wankhede is a historic stadium and cannot be compared to any other. But it is time to give Mumbai a stadium with a capacity of more than one lakh.Devendra Fadnavis said this on the presser
In his speech, he also lauded the Mumbai police for their excellent management of the entire event, which needed a massive workforce and that too in the midst of a week which is anything but easy. Whether Mumbai will get a new stadium or not, time shall reveal it all but Wankhede has definitely been the epicenter of a lot of India’s cricket history.
A glance at how India’s victory parade in Wankhede came to a conclusion
From the 2011 World Cup triumph to important fixtures that changed the course of India’s cricketing journey, Wankhede has also seen Sachin Tendulkar flap his wings from up close. With the time needed to construct a venue, Wankhede will continue to serve as the primary venue in Mumbai for now.

The victory parade for Team India was absolutely massive last night which saw the players and the fans enjoying in almost similar pulse. There was a short dance that was led by Rohit Sharma and with Virat Kohli following suit, the entire team didn’t hesitate to leap in. The big event concluded with speeches from the Indian players accompanied with Rahul Dravid, whose stint with the Indian cricket team came to an end after a successful campaign in West Indies and the USA.
