AJ Styles was one of the surprise entrants in this year’s Royal Rumble match. He spent just over 21 minutes, dumped LA Knight over the top rope but ended up getting eliminated by Logan Paul. Even though the former WWE Champion didn’t have a spectacular showing, the fans are excited to know what’s next for him.
As per PWInsider, the word that’s been making the rounds over the weekend suggests that Styles is expected to become a Raw-exclusive commodity soon enough. It’d be a major blow to SmackDown. The blue brand was already deprived of top stars since putting on an extra hour to its airtime. Apparently, things are about to go from bad to worse for Nick Aldis‘ roster.
Styles swapping brands to bolster the talent pool on Monday nights appears to be a well-rounded call to appease Raw’s streaming partner—Netflix. The OTT giant had reportedly asked WWE for some of the company’s top-drawing names to be featured on their programming. It’d be interesting to see when WWE pulls the trigger on The Phenomenal One’s move to Raw.
The Stamford-based promotion couldn’t have asked for more than having Styles back on TV for the WrestleMania season. Back in October, the 47-year-old picked up a Lisfranc injury. Styles had an abrupt landing on his left foot whilst jockeying to outmaneuver Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown.
Veteran referee Charles Robinson knew something was off, and he eventually had to stop the match. At the time, many thought that it was merely a part of the storyline. However, as The Georgia Pitbull later revealed via X, he feared that a bone would stick out of his foot. It took three months for AJ to heal up.
Has WWE teased AJ Styles’ WrestleMania 41 opponent?
With about 2.5 months to go until WrestleMania 41, WWE has seemingly mapped out an opponent for AJ Styles. As the fans saw, Logan Paul seized the opportunity to get rid of Mr. TNA from the men’s Royal Rumble match this past weekend.
The Maverick’s antics were slapped with a cascade of boos as he dumped out a fan-favorite. That being said, Styles vs. Paul might actually take place at WrestleMania. It doesn’t seem as enticing but could spar its way to emerge as one of the best matches of the WrestleMania weekend.
WWE went ahead with a similar trajectory for Logan back in 2023 when he eliminated Seth Rollins from the Royal Rumble. The two eventually duked it out at The Show of Shows and stole the evening at SoFi Stadium. Paul’s rumored bout with Styles has all the potential to bang.
